This piece is titled “The Cutting Room” which is sooo META
Here’s the story:

The artwork was “done” and I submitted photos for a gallery show (the tan frame). Then after the submission deadline was extended I decided to ‘make it better’
because that’s good, right?
Uh…
I used a type of shellac I’d never used before to tidy the surface, and… a chemical reaction buckled it.😱
So, I went about re-designing, re-printing, and re-collaging a new set of materials. Some the same, some different, and
NEW creative decisions were made because…
THIS WAS A NEW DAY, and re-creating is BS. The moment you are copying yourself, you are functioning like a clone. This is not being ALIVE in relation to your work.
Great art is of the moment AND universal because it ties into a single FORM the multi-dimensional experience of the artist, the materials, and the spirit. If the work isn’t directly tied in, it doesn’t have the energy that brings viewers into that space either.
While making the new piece, I decided I wanted the knife 🔪to be removable, because it feels SO SATISFYING in my hand. So I got some magnets.
The new spin-a-wheel aspect of the knife is WILDLY satisfying, the knife is magnetized to the background and can face any direction, and ANYONE can handle the knife.
I may or may not get into the show because my photos are kind of crappy, and the new frame is actually backwards – didn’t I say “cutting room”?
And this is A OKAY. I’m working on shoring up every aspect of my Official Gallery Artist process moving forward. I did this OGA thing before, so I just need resources to get that sh!t together better.
And they’ll come, I KNOW IT. If you want to help, you may buy me coffee, or give via this blog Giving Link is Here. I’ll turn it into MORE ART.
I’d rather be congruent, authentic, fully spirited AND a little rough around the edges, than take years and waiting for PATRONS to do stuff perfectly. Finer finish will come soon enough.
Leave perfection to AI image generators. I’d rather make sure THE ENERGY is powerful.
To be on sale soon.
(Don’t use the knife on yer everything bagel.)
