The Las Vegas shooting was horrible. It was also terrorism. How do we know? Because people are more afraid, and feel less safe in their daily lives. The result of terrorism is there, even if the motive is unknown.
I also wonder if Las Vegas was also one of those terrible teaching moments the universe throws at us. The kind of lesson that is not about cause and effect, but is more like a glimpse of the fates, an odd parallel scene visible in a mirror ball.
See, the man who rained terror down that night was rich, boastful, erratic, prone to risk-taking, successful at real estate, entitled, highly-comped, an insomniac, resourceful, connected with an immigrant woman and he stockpiled his weapons.
Another man is rich, boastful, erratic, prone to risk-taking, successful at real estate, entitled, highly-comped, an insomniac, resourceful, connected with an immigrant woman and stockpiles his weapons.
What one man did was unconscionable, and his motive confounding.
What the other man does is sometimes understandable by the tenants of graft, but just as often, is baffling.
Each man: intensely selfish. Neither man: compassionate. Each man: successful in the American Dream, for a time. One throws his allies out of the danger zone. The other throws them under the bus.
Could this all be just simple insanity?
Mirror ball… can we change our fate? What other views can you show us today?
