I’m seeing young parents wheeling around their kids in carts, and think: I did that. Yeah, I had kids, am still raising them, and I deserve some kind of a super special prize for this.
I never used to think this way, but one day after my husband told me that women “have it” over men, “hands down in every situation,” because, “you know, women give birth,” I started to wear this mantle.
So Heavy

Before this, I was blissfully unaware of the responsibility of producing the future.
I was just hanging out with two little beings trying to take care of them. But now I think I deserve one of those huge weighted belts you’d get if you were a championship boxer or wrestler. I think me and my women friends all should get some big ass award to show what we’ve accomplished, despite bullshit circumstances and nonsensical political decision-making growing crazier by the day.
In my world, women could swagger in grocery stores, board rooms, and governmental cabinets, butting our bellies up against each other, “Me too!”

And all those bellies bumping with big a$$ golden belts would make loud, clanking thunder that no one would mess with.
The accessorizing would be spectacular.
Taking care of nature, nature taking care of us
Recently though, some group of folks thought it appropriate to put E-GOD (DOGE man Elon’s crew for backwards), into a position to “fix” things for our future. Embodying this Project 2025 semi-religious effort is a hopped-up man proud of having babies with lots of different ladies. Making smart kids, he says. Saving humanity, he says. With his body, with rockets, with data, with AI, and with unexamined efficiency.
Growing populations with plans to jettison the rich to Mars to escape an earth-bound reckoning – while creating more poor to work so the rich can afford to do just that –seems like a losing strategy long term.
I think common sense says, if we aren’t taking care of our natural world, biodiversity, and each other, increasing populations seems kind of stupid? If you want to know what will piss off a woman, a fruitful, Grandmother champion, it’s not taking care of the places that real children arrive. Get to that, and everything else works out fine.
Yes, even the economy, stupid.
It’s not rocket science.
