The digital dance of brand migration

I know how overwhelming it can be to switch a business name, finances, website hosting, 301 redirects, domain names, audiences, branding collateral, social channels, and not lose sales or income…

So I shared this text with a friend to help her when I couldn’t, I’ll now share with you. It’s a mindset you can adopt which informs the order and steps by which you do a brand shift, especially if you must do it yourself. I hope it is useful to you. I also hope you’ll follow her and pick up her amazing balm. It works wonders, for real.

I was thinking about a mindset I’ve employed while transitioning digital assets & renaming considerations for clients. There are so many moving parts! One I’ve found protects value and gracefully unfolds steps — like a dance in plain view. Perhaps it will help you:

Choreographer.

That is while you do steps to shift over your business name and packaging, it is like a dance, and you — the choreographer— only need to decide order, and be sure it is coherent *to the audience* as you go.

Also that they can get what they came for (Yore Products)

It is a fallacy that everything needs to be perfect before a new product “launch” — only companies as big as Nike can afford to do that.

The marketing landscape is shifting. Authenticity is more valuable in smaller, niche markets

Your community loves who you are and what you make. Likely, they simply want to buy more… not see a ‘perfect’ switch from one site +name+ packaging to another.

Choreography of steps is an art, and it can be as unique as you are.

I would just suggest focusing on getting products online first for sake of earning. And, sharing some of your journey on your most “personal” of yore social media accounts if things take longer than you would like.

Take or leave the above— you didn’t ask for it, yet I sincerely hope is valuable. Hey, dancing is fun 💃🏻

Now, off I go to Boston.
