I’d let my house get even more out of control than usual. Laundry piled high, dishes not quite done, backyard with a spillover of inside toys, piles of papers and gobs of Spackle all over… See, I’d been trying to be efficient, and it was not going well. Every super-mom I know (or have heard of) seems to have mastered this skill. How to bake cupcakes while folding laundry, kids playing gratefully on their home-spun imaginative toys, all while prepping stuff for the PTO. By the end of the day, the house looks like a 1950s be-pearled housewife, cocktail-ready heaven, and everything –and everyone– is in their place. So I aimed instead for effortlessness today: following the moment, gently galloping toward goals, and being with the people in my life, as we stretch ourselves all “out of place,” but into some new wonderful spaces. And, it’s working pretty well–I’m sitting here writing in a relaxed fashion at 2 pm and the house isn’t half bad anymore. Maybe I’ll ease in again tomorrow… (Top Ten Ways to Ease into Effortlessness)
