I’ve been furious. I’ve been feeling so enraged I make memes like this:
I’ve been arguing, repeating myself, and get outraged over and over. I still can’t believe ANY of my fellow citizens would choose this man to lead us. He disavows responsibility for anything, save the best things, which he often deserves little to no credit for.
He consistently makes decisions about points, ratings, numbers and money. And that’s it. He is advised by people in his own image, an image crafted solely to measure greatness by points, ratings, numbers and money.
We deserve better. We are America. Where people matter. Where citizens make the government.
Yesterday I watched a press conference “in the lovely Rose Garden.” One by one, business leaders were announced as if they were all honoring each other at a country club cocktail party. All deferring to the host of the party. All so proud of themselves and each other. In that moment, I realized that America’s public health had been outsourced to corporations. Yikes, can they do what is needed?
We all know the answer is NO. They cannot. It is literally against their mandates as businesses, which is to grow profits and please shareholders and boards of directors. Do they “mean well”? Sure, but they will not give it away as government public health organizations (defunded/disbanded by this man in 2018) are created to do. Everything comes with a price, even if ‘free’ in the moment. In this case, the cost is again, democracy itself.
When officials centralize power, they don’t hoard it all. They centralize it around those who can give favors, and receive favors. Like taxpayer dollars for tests and treatment.
My taxpayer dollars are for roads, and bridges, schools, and public health programs.
If his press conference regarding a national emergency also struck you as “odd” or even “dangerous,” than please join with me in getting out the vote. Not just you, I mean everyone who doesn’t even give a damn. You get them voting. The destructive elements in this country were energized and voted like crazy in 2016, many to simple “blow things up” because they didn’t like the government. Well they did, and now we have to stop the “American Carnage” (his words at his inauguration) before these forces make it come any more true.
My next post, god willing, will be about forgiveness. That’s what this one was supposed to be, but I apparently needed to say a few things first.
We need to return to sanity in this country, which means, I do too. Stay tuned for a post about formidable forgiveness, the only powers stronger than the destructive ones we are facing now. Adios. I’ll be back in fighting form.
