[first posted on Nov 10, 2016] I have been feeling shocked. But I will not stay there. When you are in shock, for real, you need stuff to survive. You need rest. You need care. You need warmth, nutrition, monitoring even. If you don’t get it, you risk slipping away into a coma or worse.
Many women in particular, feel “in shock” about this election. The feelings are often visceral, with symptoms, and it is deeply emotional. How could so many feel it is okay to diminish so many others? This is a big problem, it IS shocking.
So, you need care. And you must provide it for yourself. You need to recover. Why? Because we need you. We need all the people who feel a deep loss of something safe. We need you strong. We are all going to have to get very, very strong. There are millions of children, and neighbors and friends who could be in danger. YOU are going to help protect them. So, take good quiet care of yourself right now. Come out of shock. You’ll be called to love with might soon enough.
