Why all of a sudden TRump supporters are in disbelief that he could say something brazenly cruel and irreverent? Isn’t that why they voted for him?

Thing is, he knows the “he’s coarse, and I don’t like him… but the economy” line of thinking won him the presidency AND gave him a free pass to be cruel, indolent, and immoral in an ever-amplifying spectacle.

Many have doubled down on their support, because they never questioned the validity of the initial “yes, but” reasoning that elected a morally (and also economically) bankrupt man.

That reasoning IS the road to hell.
